Starting July 1st Shaker Pediatrics welcomes Zachary Gleason, FNP to our practice!
Originally from the area, Zach received a Bachelors in Biology from Binghamton University. Upon returning to the Capital Region he began working at Albany Medical Center on the General Pediatric unit. He then received his Nursing Degree from Hudson Valley and Masters Degree in Nursing from Sage Graduate School. He worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Albany Med for 2 years before transitioning to Pediatric Primary Care in Saratoga in 2018. He is a member of the Capital District Pediatric Society. Zach resides in Latham with his wife and 3 young children.
After 35 wonderful years with Shaker Pediatrics, Dr. Ambros will be retiring from the practice. Dr. Ambros will continue seeing patients through December 2026, and physical appointments are still available with her at this time — though we expect them to fill quickly. For more than three decades, Dr. Ambros has cared for generations of families with compassion, dedication, and kindness. Her impact on our patients, staff, and community has been truly immeasurable. We are incredibly grateful for her outstanding career and the many lives she has touched over the years. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ambros and wishing her all the very best in her retirement.
With the increase in some local practices closing we have been inundated with transfer patients. In order to better serve our current patients we are at this time only accepting newborn children to the practice.
Starting Monday June 22nd we will be starting our Summer Hours. The office will be open Monday- Friday 7 am to 4:00pm. Saturdays from 9:00am to 11:00am for Urgent Visits Only . Schedule you Child's Summer Physical Today if you haven't already! Avoid the end of summer rush for physicals. These appointments go fast so don't delay!
Shaker Pediatrics PC is saddened to share that one of our founding members of the practice, William A. Petersen MD has passed away. Originally known as Boland, Petersen & O'Dwyer MD's, Dr. Petersen was an integral member of the elite group of pediatricians for Latham and Loudonville. Dr. Petersen retired from the practice back in 2015 after devoting his life to caring for many of the Capital Region's children and their parents for 50 years. Always an impeccable dresser, Dr. P was known for wearing his amazing plaid pants at every staff Christmas party and his salmon Bermuda shorts to each summer party we had. Every Halloween (also his birthday) he came dressed up in his Army uniform from 1957 which always fit perfectly! He was loved by each and everyone of us, always bringing a smile to our faces with his familiar "greetings" whenever he came back to visit us after retirement. We'd like to think we were his second family but we all know he was family to everyone he knew! While we hadn't seen his face in a while at the office, we know he still thought of us often and had just recently called to say hello and that he missed those of us who still remembered him at the office. Dr. P was a true gentle man with exceptional bedside manner to each and everyone of his patients and their parents. We will miss him immensely and will continue to carry on with his practice!
